John Kovach- Managing Director

John Kovach has been named managing director of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum. Kovach may be known to anglers as host of Yankee Fisherman on the HAN Network (formerly known as Hersam Acorn Newspapers), an internet show that first streamed in audio in 2014 and evolved to streaming video in 2015. Kovach started with the company in 1993 as founding assistant editor of The Darien Times in Darien, Conn. In 1997 he was named editor of the New Canaan Advertiser, sister paper to The Darien Times. His tenure at Hersam Acorn also included stints as editor of the Stratford Star and the Fairfield Sun, and in 2015 he was appointed Editorial Director for the company, overseeing 12 weekly newspapers and 18 websites as well as broadcast operations and integration from the company’s Shelton, Conn. headquarters. Kovach is communications and programs chairman for the Nutmeg Chapter of Trout Unlimited, based in Fairfield, Conn. He redesigned the chapter’s newsletter and was part of the team that restructured the chapter’s website,, named the best local chapter website in the United States for 2013 by Trout Unlimited. He is also first vice chairman of the Connecticut Council of Trout Unlimited. Since he was a young boy Kovach has been an angler, an activity he still enjoys with his family. In addition to fly fishing for trout he is a saltwater angler, spin fisherman, and does tenkara. A fly tyer, he also tinkers with lure design. The son of John and Judy Kovach of Flanders, N.J., Kovach is a 1983 graduate of Mt. Olive High School and a 1987 graduate of the University of Bridgeport (Conn.), where he won Journalism Student of the Year. Kovach served on the Chamber of Commerce in New Canaan, as a member of the New Canaan Community Emergency Response Team and as an emergency medical technician for the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Starting in 1993, Kovach coached Pop Warner Football in Fairfield, Conn. He moved on to coach high school football with Fairfield Prep, Platt Tech in Milford and Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Kovach and his wife Kathleen Felker Kovach, a native of Amsterdam, N.Y., reside in Fairfield, Conn.

Rob Ceccarini- Development Director 

Rob Ceccarini has been named Development Director of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum.Rob has been fly fishing for 20 years and is a passionate and active voice in the angling community. His passion for for fly fishing the local waters includes Long Island, the Catskills, and his new home waters in Connecticut along with the occasional trips out West and the Caribbean. Rob takes pride in introducing and developing new fly fishers through guided trips, private lessons, and on-the-water instruction and is an avid fly tyer who loves nothing more than creating new patterns and helping others refine their craft. Previously, Rob worked as the Fishing Manager at Orvis NYC for 10 years where he and his team established the Fifth Avenue Store as a gateway to the Orvis brand. Rob brings his marketing, project management, networking, and fundraising skills to the CFFCM in his new role as Development Director. Rob is a dedicated conservationist and is an involved member of TU, TGF, FUDR and Stripers Forever. He lives in Ridgefield CT with his wife and two future fly fisher daughters
